EHV Outbreak Information

UPDATE 11/24/25

Better Barrel Races has been in continual contact with the OK State Vet and OKC Fair Park about the upcoming OKC Futurity to be held Dec 9-14, 2025.  At this time, BBR is working with the OK State Fairgrounds on an adjusted schedule to give more time for all barns to be cleaned, a double disinfectant application, and set empty longer.  A revised schedule for the OKC Futurity will delay move-in putting it outside the recommended 21 day quarantine period following the cancellation of the BFA event in Guthrie.  A final announcement regarding the event will be made later this week pending updates on any new cases and exposures resulting from the BFA Guthrie event.  

BBR values each and every member, contestant, producer and horse.  At this time there are no BBR approved events through the end of November.  As we progress through this time, please be patient with delayed responses to obvious questions.  We are working on what this looks like from an end of the year prospective as well as event perspective.  Your emails, calls, text, FB posts, and social media DM’s are not falling on deaf ears.  We are working to navigate the details of year end standings and participation as best we can in a manner that is fair and best for all involved.

In addition, several American Rodeo barrel racing qualifiers were slated to be held at the end of the year.  Remember, that the cut off to qualify for the 2026 American Rodeo Semi-Finals will be March 15, 2026.  Additional barrel racing qualifiers will be listed soon at betterbarrelraces.com/TheAmerican as shows are confirmed.  

Please do your part in helping stop the outbreak by following your vet's recommendations, practicing proper biosecurity protocols, and paying attention to your horses' health.  Ultimately, it is your decision of what is best for you and your equine partner.
